Today I worked to find more information about Marry Appleton's family.
Background Information
Mary first married Jacob Monroe. They married in 1858 in Indiana. They had three children, Thomas A. Monroe, born about 1859; Otis Elmer Monroe, about born 1864; John Alva Monroe born about 1868.
In 1862, Jacob joined the Union army in the 70th Indiana Military Infantry; Company K, as a private.
A family tree on Ancestry.com says he died in March 1872.
This makes sense because Mary married a second time in 1873. She married James H. Stewart. In the 1880 census, it shows Mary, James, and two of the boys living in Kansas. In 1882, Mary applied for a pension as the widow of Civil War soldier, James Monroe. At the time, she was living in Cherryvale, Kansas.
Questions
I have never been able to find any more information about Mary, James, or her children.
Research on March 29, 2014; Possible Match for Thomas A. Monroe
A family tree on Ancestry says that his name is Thomas Allen Monroe. And, it says that he was born in October 1859. Moreover, suggested records by Ancestry for this accompany this record link to the 1870 census for Thomas A. Monroe.

Ora Lee Reyburn daughter of John Andrew Johnson Reyburn
This is a follow up to an entry dated March 7, 2011: http://myfamilyhistorynotes.blogspot.com/2011/03/ora-lee-reyburn-marriage-record.html
CONCLUSION: I have reached the conclusion that Ora Lee Reyburn is the daughter of John Andrew Johnson Reyburn. Here is my reasoning:
1880 Census
Jno Reyburn and S. E. Reyburn are listed as head and wife. S.E. Reyburn's record says she was born in Ohio. Ohio is right next to Kentucky. They have a daughter.
1900 Census
JH (John Henry) Reyburn is the head of the household. He was born in 1828.
John Reyburn is living in his father's house. The records indicate he is widowed. It also says their are two girls there:
Mollie A. Reyburn, born about 1880, her mother was born in Ohio. The record also says she is J.H.'s daughter.
Ora Lee Reyburn, born about 1882, her mother was born in Ohio. The record says she is J.H.'s neice.
These facts don't add up. For Mollie to be JH's daughter, he would have been 52 when she was born. Possible, but not likely. Moreover, his wife, Margaret Jane Fortney was born 1827 and died 1893. She was still alive when Mollie was born. This would have made her 53 when Mollie was born. Again, possible but not likely. In addition, Margaret was born in North Carolina, not Kentucky or Ohio.
1910 Census
In the 1910 Census, John Andrew is still living with his father, JH Reyburn.
Mollie Reyburn, age 31 is also living in the same household. This time, however, she is listed as the granddaughter to the head. Moreover, Mollie's mother is listed as being born in Ohio.
Given these facts, I believe it is safe to conclude that Ora Lee Reyburn is the daughter of Sallie E. Adkins and John Andrew Johnson Reyburn.

Gedney Vinter, b. 1821, Friskney England--Naturalization Records in Michigan
Gedney Venter appears in the 1850 U.S. Federal Census in Pontiac, Oakland, Michigan.
I did a search of the Library of Michigan, Naturalization Index. I believe Gedney appeared in the index in Oakland:
Last name: Vinter; First name: Gedwey; first paper: V6, P134
I ordered the first papers for $20. Before 1906, first papers generally contained very little information about the individual. However, I do hope that they contain something useful.

S.G.'s Family--Philemon Baldwin b 1758 in Connecticut
I'm working on a line for one of my YW.
Here is the direct line:
* Odessa Baldwin, b. 24 January 1912; daughter of:
* Oscar Charles Baldwin, b. 22 January 1879 (married Julia Ann Parkinson, b. 10 June 1885); son of:
* Caleb Hyrum Baldwin, b. 19 July 1846 (married Jane Elizabeth Cartwright, b. 5 June 1854); son of:
* Caleb Clark Baldwin, (married Ann Eliza Robinson); son of:
* Caleb Baldwin, (married Nancy Kingsbury); son of:
* Philemon Baldwin, b. 1758 in Danbury, Fairfield, Connecticut (married Esther Charles, b. 1760);
Philemon Baldwin and Esther Charles had several children. The oldest child is a son, Asa Baldwin, b. 1780 in New York. Asa Baldwin married Milcah Southworth, b. 1795. They had several children. Many of these children have spouses and one or two children. To me, the families did not look complete since most families in that time period had several children. A few of Asa and Milcah's grandchildren have spouses with one or two children. Again, I wonder if these families are complete.
I believe this would be a good place to start working with my YW.
After the descendants of Asa and Milcah are found, then my YW could move on to Asa's siblings and their descendants.

Sterling McCallum, son of Mary Rosina Venter and Jesse McCallum
After quite a bit of searching, I found Sterling McCallum. He settled in Spokane, Washington and died there.
I think he probably married there, even though he married a girl from Nebraska. This is because the WWI draft schedule said he was 27 years old and single. In the 1920 census, though, he was married.
1910 Census in Genoa, Nance, Nebraska.
* He was living in the household of his mother, Mary McCallum. Their names were spelled McCullum.
* Mary McCallum is listed as a widow who had 5 children with 3 of them living.
* Also in the same household is Sterling's sister, Florence Mollin and her husband, Alfred Mollin, and son, Philip Mollin.
WWI Draft Record, 1917-1918
Draft record was in Spokane, Washington. Sterling is listed as single.
1920 Census, Spokane, Spokane, Washington
* Sterling M. McCallum
* Estella C. McCallulm, born in Nebraska.
Question? Because Estella was born in Nebraska.
1940 Census, Spokane, Spokane, Washington
* Sterling McCallum
* Estelle S. McCallum

Orison E Snow and Mary Jane Slocum
Random Notes on this family:
Orison E. Snow married Mary J. Slocum in 1842. They had a daughter named Frances M. Snow born about 1845. Frances was in the 1860 Census with her parents but not in the 1870 Census. However, in the 1880 Census, Frances Soule and William Soule are living next door to Orison and Mary Jane Snow. Their children are listed as Charles (8), Mary (6), and Francis (4)
In the 1880 Census, William Soule and Frances have the following children: Charles B Soule (18); Frances M. Soule (14); Arthur D. Soule (7); Eddie A. Soule (6) and Agnes E Soule (2 months).
Also in the 1880 Census we have the following:
Orison Snow and Jane M. Snow living one page previous to William and Frances Soule. Also listed in their household are Franklin B. Deming (24) as grandson, Jennie M. Deming (16) as wife, and Minnie E. Deming, (2/12) as daughter.
The age for Jennie M. is the same age as Mary Jane Snow. The name could have been Janie not Jennie. If Jennie was 16 in 1880, she was born about 1864. That means her mother (Frances M. Snow) would have been about 19 years old when her daughter was born.
Frances M. Snow married Henry William Soule. They probably married before 1870 since Frances was no longer living in her parents household. I found marriage records of two of their children. The marriage records identify both of the parents.The children are:
* William Henry Soule, b. 1881; married Cora Myra Eaton in 1906.
* Edward A. Soule, b. 1874; married in 1909 Francelia Story, b. 1874.
There is a marriage record for Clarence Edwin Deming (b 1882). In 1915 her married Lilian Eva Smith. His parents are listed as Frank B. Deming and Mary J. Soule. Based on other records, I'm assuming that Frank B. Deming was born in 1856. Mary J. Soule could be the same person as Jennie M. Deming found in the 1880 Census.
In the 1900 Census, Mary Snow is living with Frank B. Deming and Jennie M. Deming. They have a daughter Minnie (20) and a son Clarence E (18). Mary Snow is listed as the mother. This could have been a mistake and she is really the grandmother. This census also says that Mary Snow gave birth to one child and one is still living.
Who, then are Willie V. Snow and Allen Snow who were listed in the 1870 Census?
